Dr. William Wiley is a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist who has pioneered many eye procedures in the Northeast Ohio area and serves as Medical Director Cleveland Eye Clinic and Clear Choice. He was one of the first in the area to offer all-laser LASIK and laser-assisted refractive cataract surgery to his patients.

Dr. Wiley’s commitment to innovation is evident in his participation in clinical research studies, which often allows him to offer cutting-edge technology not yet widely available in most clinics. He was among the first in the country to implant RxSight’s Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) post-FDA approval, and the first in the area to implant the iStent, Hydrus Microstents for glaucoma, and advanced multifocal intraocular lenses including Tecnis aspheric, Rezoom, Panoptix, and Vivity.

To date, Dr. Wiley has performed more than 50,000 cataract and vision correction surgical procedures. His expertise and reputation extend beyond the clinic—he is a true “doctor’s doctor,” having performed hundreds of surgeries on physicians and their family members over the past 15 years.

Notable Achievement: In June 2017, Dr. Wiley performed cataract surgery on a 1.25-pound Golden Lion Tamarin Monkey named Ana at the Akron Zoo—the smallest known mammal in history to have undergone cataract surgery.

Dr. Wiley is the Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at University Hospitals/Case Western University and serves as chief medical editor for CRST – Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today. He resides in the Cleveland suburbs with his wife and family.
